Support for Children with Angry Feelings

A trauma-informed programme helping children understand, express, and manage anger in a calmer and supportive way.

Empowering Children to Navigate Angry Feelings with Confidence

A gentle, trauma-informed approach to emotional regulation.

Anger is a natural emotion, but for many children it can feel overwhelming and confusing. The Healing Together Angry Feelings Programme is designed to help children aged 5–16 understand what anger is, how it shows up in their body and brain, and how to respond using body-based strategies.

This is not about suppressing anger. It’s about creating a safe space where children can explore their emotions, feel seen and heard, and develop lifelong tools to support their emotional regulation.

Access 4 hours of online self-directed learning modules to deepen your knowledge and understanding of angry from a trauma informed perspective.

“I know I can talk to Sue about how I am feeling and she won't judge me or tell me off. I can see that you are struggling a bit and getting into trouble. I think you should go to wellbeing and ask if you can see Sue and do this anger course. Sue is fab and always stays calm, her room is really calming she can teach you all kinds of stuff to help you feel calm. I really liked the deep calm breathing, I even asked why no one had shown me that before.”

“Excellent training that provides an understanding of how anger affects children and young people, and the resources that are available to support.”

“If you are feeling angry and don' know what to do I would recommend coming to this programme. You can learn how to sometimes maintain your anger, ways/techniques to calm yourself down. Also you can learn about how your brain processes anger. This programme helped me understand anger and emotions in further detail so I can acknowledge the fact that I can control myself to an extent when I am angry. I can now teach myself exercises to calm myself down. I recommend this dearly.”
Kelly, aged 14

Refugee Resettlement Team Safeguarding and Complex Cases Coordinator, Kent County Council
“This is amazing, this is one of the best things you can learn about your anger, temper and anxiety. You will learn breathing that will help you feel calmer. You will be able to recognise your feelings and use your senses to help you feel calmer. Plus the biscuits are nice and sensory week is so good too.”
