Foundations Guidebook
Trauma-informed programme supporting children affected by domestic abuse recognised for its growing evidence basemet
London - 05/10/2026
Innovating Minds is pleased to announce that its trauma-informed programme, Healing Together, has been added to the Foundations Guidebook, a trusted resource that brings together evidence on interventions designed to improve outcomes for children and families.
The inclusion of Healing Together reflects the programme's growing evidence base and its potential to support children and young people affected by domestic abuse. The programme has been awarded a Level 2 Evidence Rating following an independent review through the Foundations Guidebook assessment process.
Foundations – What Works Centre for Children & Families is the national What Works Centre for Children & Families and provides information on over 130 interventions with at least preliminary evidence of improving outcomes for children and families. The Guidebook supports local leaders, commissioners, practitioners, researchers and policymakers to make evidence-informed decisions about services in their communities.
Designed for children and young people aged 5 to 16 who have experienced domestic abuse, Healing Together helps participants develop emotional awareness, understand the connection between their experiences and their emotional responses, and build practical strategies for emotional regulation and wellbeing. Delivered by accredited practitioners, the programme can be offered on a one-to-one basis or in groups.
The programme received a Level 2 Evidence Rating, meaning there is preliminary evidence that Healing Together may improve outcomes for children and young people. Two studies demonstrated measurable improvements in areas including emotional awareness, emotional understanding, confidence in expressing emotions and a reduced tendency to hide emotions.
Healing Together also received a cost rating of 2 out of 5, highlighting its relatively low implementation cost and making it a practical option for local authorities, schools, family hubs, domestic abuse services and community organisations seeking evidence-informed support at scale.
Dr Asha Patel, Founder of Innovating Minds, said:
"We are delighted that Healing Together has been included in the Foundations Guidebook. This recognition reflects the dedication of practitioners, partners and organisations who are committed to supporting children and young people affected by domestic abuse. Most importantly, it marks another step towards ensuring that evidence-informed, trauma-informed support is accessible to more children who need it."
Healing Together forms part of the wider Healing Together Framework, which supports organisations to develop trauma-informed cultures, strengthen workforce practice and create lasting systems change that improves outcomes for children, young people and families.
